Arhar Dal With Green Mango


Ingredients:


  • Green mangoes 1 cup cut into small dices
  • Split red gram 1 cup
  • Salt use as required
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves 1 sprig
  • Garam Masala powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 2
  • Red chilies 2
  • Ginger 1 ea tsp chopped
  • Ghee 2 tsp 

Method:

  1. Wash and cook the daal (red gram) with the salt, red chili powder and turmeric powder in a sauté use.
  2. Add the mango to the daal.
  3. Add a part of the ginger to the daal along with the cumin powder and the Garam masala powder. Mix well.
  4. When the daal and the mango are cooked remove from fire.
  5. Heat the ghee in a pan, add the mustard seeds, when they crackle, add the remaining ginger & garlic paste, curry leaves, slit green chilies and the broken red chilies.
  6. Fry for 2 minutes over a low flame and pour over the daal. Serve hot.
